EN47 is a high-strength chromium-vanadium alloy spring steel (50CrV4/AISI 6150) known for excellent elasticity, toughness, and shock resistance, ideal for leaf springs and high-stress parts. Key properties include a typical tensile strength.

 

Key Properties of EN47 Spring Steel Sheet:

• Mechanical Strength: High tensile strength 700–950 MPa and high yield strength 500–650 MPa, allowing it to withstand high loading without permanent deformation.
• Hardness: Usually supplied in annealed condition 250  HB, but designed to be hardened and tempered to a range of 40–52 HRC
• Elasticity & Toughness: Exceptional fatigue resistance and toughness due to chromium-vanadium alloying, making it ideal for springs that undergo repeated loading.
• Heat Treatment: Commonly quenched in oil at 830–900 and tempered, typically at 400–600.
• Composition: Contains roughly \(0.45-0.55\%\) Carbon, (0.80-1.20) Chromium, and a minimum of 0.15 Vanadium, which contributes to its fine grain structure.
• Applications: Commonly used for leaf springs, torsion bars, and high-stress automotive or industrial components.
